Control how the app displays content and behaves. Preferences save automatically and stay set between visits.
Appearance
Visual settings for the interface.

Japanese Text Display
How Japanese words appear throughout the app.

Pronunciation
Settings for pronunciation guides and display.

Word & Study Audio
Japanese recordings: word and character pronunciations, and the audio an exercise plays. These controls sit on the Sounds & Haptics tab below the interface controls, independent of Interface Sounds.

Interface Sounds
Short sounds that mark what just happened: a selection, an answer being judged, a session reaching its end. They carry no speech and no Japanese content.

| Silent Mode & Device Volume | Interface sounds follow your device. They play through the media channel, so the phone's media volume applies, and a device on silent plays none of them regardless of this setting. |
Haptics
Brief vibration paired with interface feedback in the eevy mobile app.

| Haptics | Vibration on or off for taps and results in the mobile app. Your device has the final say: nothing vibrates when system vibration is off, the hardware doesn't support it, or the OS suppresses it for power or accessibility reasons. |
| On the Web | Browsers perform no vibration, so this changes nothing you feel in a web session. It's offered anyway because the value is stored with your account: set it here, sign in on your phone, and the mobile app follows the choice. |
Troubleshooting Sound
Nothing plays until you interact
Browsers block audio until a page has been interacted with. The first tap, click, or key press unlocks playback for the rest of the visit, so a sound expected right after a page loads can be the one that goes missing.
Check the device before the app
Media volume, a connected headset or Bluetooth speaker, and an iPhone's Ring/Silent switch all sit between the app and what you hear. On silent, an iPhone plays no interface sounds while word audio you start yourself still plays.
Missing sound never affects your studying
Interface sounds and haptics are supplementary. Every result, verdict, and session milestone is shown on screen as well, so a sound that fails to play changes nothing about grading, scheduling, or progress.
Other
Max Search Results
Caps dictionary search results, 10 to 1000 (default 100). Lower values load faster on slow connections.
How Preferences Are Saved

Cookie Consent Required (Web)
On web browsers, saving preferences needs your cookie consent. Without it, settings reset when you close the browser. Native apps save preferences locally.
